Study on Determining Polar Compounds in Coal Tar by HPLC

The analytical methods of polar compounts in coal tar have been studied in which high performance liquid chromatography(HPLC) has been primarily employed. The total amount of polar compounds in tar has been determined by using normal-phase(N-P) HPLC associated with back-flush(BF). The study on preparing concentrated fraction of polar compounds and analyzing typical polar components has been made by using reversed-phase(R-P) HPLC associated with preparation liquid chromatography. Test samples were provided by some coking plants in Shanxi province.
