Abstract
The ion concentrations in snow and ice are sometimes too low to be determined accurately by atomic absorption spectrophotometry. However, the absorbance can be increase rapidly by using the impact bead instead of plastic flow spoiler. The results of a series of control experiments show a 1.2-fold improvement has been made in absorbance for Ca2+, 2~3-fold improvment for Mg2+,Na+ and K+, which solves the measuring problems of snow and ice samples with low ion concentrations.
