Determination of the traces of Formaldehyde in Fabric by Using MBTH Method

The determination principle and conditions of the microscale formaldehyde in fabric by using MBTH method were studied. Zin is generated as the result of the reaction between formaldehyde and MBTH; The reaction of zin and the MBTH oxid produces green compound, in which the compound is absorbed maximally in 635 nm, in the best condition the detection amount of the formaldehyde is 0.001 8 μg/mL. The relative criterion deviation is 0%～2.5% and the rate of recovery is 96%～105%. This method is applied to determine the amount of formaldehyde in fabric, with satisfactory result.
